Pustak School @ 18th jan - Fun Education :)
The hiatus is over, the souls are refreshed, the evolution is on and we are back into doing what we do the best.
"Bhaiya, aaj bahot mazzaa aaya, ABC aur Counting seekh ke. Agle Sunday dubaara aana please", said an ecstatic 7 yr. old nandi, who lives in the Sec. 25 janta colony and studies at the Colony's Pustak School.
We Volunteer kicked off the first event of this year, with slum kids at Pustak School, Sec.25, Chd. As always there was "Fun education" for the little angels and lot to learn for the elders. Volunteers from around the city participated to spend their Sunday with the under privileged kids. They were imparted education through presentations on their laptops including loads of audio-visuals which was different from their regular classroom studies breaking the monotony. Kids enjoyed cartoons as well as learned from presentations lessons on the personal cleanliness, regular syllabus like the alphabet and the numerals.
And as always, a Quotient of fun was added to the proceedings by the volunteers that were present at the school.

We Volunteer will be kicking off the first event of this very special New Year 2009. The year where there will be change and the change for good.
PiT-sToP 2009 will be organized at our home turf, Pustak School, sector 25 (behind Dainik Bhaskar).
As always there will be “Funeducation” for the little angels and lot to learn for the grown ups.

'Rang' - Paintings by lil' kid beggars
So it happened that the police was polite to them for a change. They bothered to be soft towards the little street angels and they were keen to explain to them that their tiny little hands are not meant for begging and rather look beautiful with a pencil or a brush…
Yet another event by We Volunteer.. "RANG".. Sunday, 4th May evening..we managed to get all the kids together to paint their dreams. They had the dreams.. we had the space (canvas).. They had the choice and we had the colors…
So, we found one of the corners is sector – 17 market where we all sat together. One angel and one volunteer. Sheets.. colors.. water.. as much as you want.
Makhna was the first to finish one painting.. It was contour portrait of lord ganesha.. white in black. Pooja took a lot of time but came with an all green painting that had red flowers around it.. I remembered that when I was a kid.. green and red used to be my favorite combination.
We all painted.. sometimes the chart and sometimes each other's hands.. All under Charan's supervision, a volunteer pursuing graduation from Government Arts College, Chandigarh.
Each Painting was special… Aesthetic and appealing to the best of its possibilities. And the most pleasurable was the fact that these angels who live in scarcity all the time… for some time, had an abundance of colors. Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way....................

This Xmas was celebrated by We Volunteer at Pustak, a school for slum children in Sector 25. We already had collected the wishes of the kids on the Wish Day celebrations at Pustak. Unfortunately, not enough people stepped up to fulfill the wishes and we had to do with a common gift for all the bachalog.
Disappointed, but not dejected, we proceeded with full enthu to make this Xmas a special one for the little ones. Over a brainstorming session at CCD, we decided upon the gifts. Bas fir kya, the funds were raised, snacks ordered, the gifts bought and packed. Did I forget something? Oh yeah, Santa of course! How can there be a Xmas without a Santa, huh? After a choti moti si fight with Deepika who was to play Santa, I finally snatched the much coveted role and got a chance to play Santa! Oh boy, what great fun it was. The kids went absolutely bonkers on seeing Santa unkil. I was mobbed, my fake beared pulled at, my nosy pinched and my gifts sack ransacked! In short, it was fultoo masti being a kid with the kids again!
The kids put up an absolutely enthralling show with their dance and singing performances. It must have been tough to select the three winners, I am glad I wasn't the one doing it :)
And the best part of the day was giving the gifts to the children. Their eyes shone with pure joy, faces lit up with innocent smiles (and hands itched to unwrap the gifts!)
For years I have been asking my parents for gifts on Xmas, but never ever have I been so happy. The true spirit of Xmas is in giving rather than receiving, and I hope more n more people discover this joy!

We wish you a Merry X'mas and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Ah!! atlast the hiatus was over and 25th December came with all its fervor and jolly. We Volunteer organized a special event - Christmas Celebrations, for the kids at Pustak School. It was the culmination of the hard work that we put into the arrangement of the event. With continuous planing and discussions occupying the week before the event, it was really satisfying to see all the chalk board drawings turning into reality and of course, the smiles and the giggles that the kids spilled all along the datum. The event started with a small skit enacted by Charan and Varun leaving the kids agape with astonishment. And then it was time for our very own Nipun dressed as Santa Claus to appear. Oh man! the smiles and those wide eyes brimming with excitement on the faces of those kids was really worth the effort:) Their happiness seemed to have no limits and they seemed to have gone into a world of frenzy. After these surprises, the kids started to perform one by one. While they were displaying their talents, the crowd was getting difficult to handle but all thanks to the WE VOLUNTEER team, they did well to control them. It was really amazing to see the confidence these kids have in themselves. A good judging was done by Ajay bhaiya, Aman and Auro000ooo. Our very own personal favourite "Varsha" bagged the first prize:) She was amazing and everyone in the audience was spellbound to see her taping her feet on the song "aaja nachle". Another kid, "Sagar", was no less while performing, surprising all of us with his cool dance steps on 'jhalak dikh la ja'
We all were very happy to see such sweet and winsome smiles on those innocent faces. Our job was done for the day. Nothing in my life had made me feel better then those pyaare thank yous' , when those children got there gifts:). This event with kids and their ebullient happiness has encouraged me more to carry on the work I am doing.

and hey not to forget ----this event would not have been a success without the help of our hard working, energetic and dynamic volunteers ..thanks to all for your amazing support:)

jingle bells jingle bells...our Santa made the kids dance to the tune of jingle bells.......Santa who fulfills everyone's wishes......i wish the kids get what they wish and admire the most....... hope Santa listens to my wish.....
helooooo friends.... it was total fun today at Pustak with kids..... oooh my goodness those kids dance so well....... it was a great show put up by the kids.. and the we volunteer team ws gr8.... did a lot to bring smiles to those cute little faces........the blessings the kids got were th most imp..... i hope the kids remember hamesha this Christmas party set up for them
.... the dances the poems..and yeh! :)my song...hehe.....I am glad i attended the event..... will remember everything forever

We Volunteer is back to what it does best
We Volunteer will be organizing an event at Pustak School in Sector 25 to celeberate the spirit of christmas with the little angels at the school.
The event will be held on Dec 25 from 12 PM to 3 PM.
So do join in to share some moments of joy with the kids or call them angels and let them know the charm and fun of the Christmas
